Anyone else notice this?

I've been folding with my stock GTX 1660 for over 2 weeks, it's been very stable, no problems at all.
Usually it's stable at 1860-1875MHz core clock, 100W power consumption, 70C GPU temp, PPD 500-600K.
Today I got a notification of a new driver available. Then I started folding. Suddenly it won't boost anymore.
It was folding at 1530MHz core clock, 60W power consumption, 60C GPU temp, PPD 350-450K.
Then I updated the driver, and everything is back to normal again.
Seems like the driver refuses to boost GPU clocks if there's a new driver available? Or just coincidence?
