My Nvidia 1050 Ti isn't doing anything.

It seems that a lot of GPU problems revolve around specific versions of drivers. Though NVidia has their own support structure, you can often learn from information reported by others who fold.

My Nvidia 1050 Ti isn't doing anything.

Post by Ghost_Killer_ »

Hi,

I'm kind of new to all of this so I don't quite get what is happening. I did research and I understand what the goal of F@H is, but I don't quite know what to do on my end other than leave my PC on.

My CPU is folding just fine. In the last half hour or so it went from 0% to 12% just running on light. However, my GPU hasn't made any progress. I did some looking through the forum and I saw someone said there aren't enough Work Unit's to go around right now. Is that true? Or do I need to do something else to get my GPU working on something?

Thanks for any help and sorry if it's kind of a stupid question.

Welcome to the FAH Forums.

There is a bit of a shortage of GPU WUs at the moment - but that may or may not be why you aren't getting any work … If you could post you log (ensuring to post the top 200 lines or so as well as the current section someone may be able to hep you diagnose if there is an issue - see viewtopic.php?f=24&t=26036 for help posting logs

By "light" you mean the setting "Folding Power"? With this setting you will never get your GPU to fold, as "light" means only your CPU will be used. Turn it up to medium to also use the GPU slot.

Yes, correct. Sorry. Light as in folding power. It's been running on high for the last 30 minutes as I'm doing other work on my other computer so I have it running on my gaming computer. The only thing I have open on it is this forum page and the control page.

It's fine. If that's what it is I'm sure I'll see some progress in the coming days as GPU WUs become available. If I don't see anything in the next day or so, I'll post a log and see whats up. Thanks!

Okay, if its running on high now it will be actively looking for GPU jobs as well. Assuming your GPU slot is configured correctly. You should be able to check that in the FAHControl or the client itself - as Neil-B wrote correctly, there is a shortage of WUs for GPUs at the moment, so it might take some time getting those.

We were all new to this when we first started... If you have any F@H Project related questions, feel free to ask them in the appropriate Forum. Many members here are happy to explain concepts and share their knowledge :)
