Radeon HD6520G (A6-3400M APU)

It seems that a lot of GPU problems revolve around specific versions of drivers. Though AMD has their own support structure, you can often learn from information reported by others who fold.

Radeon HD6520G (A6-3400M APU)

I'm having trouble getting my GPU to run alongside my CPU in F@H. I've tried restarting the client, checked the gpu support list, downloaded and copied the opencl.dll file into both system32 and SysWOW64 folders on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Uninstalled and reinstalled display drivers for the 6520G, I just don't know what else I can do at this point, so that's what brings me here.

If running a custom driver you likely need to switch to the AMD driver. 12.8 is a good working version.

Also, you shouldn't have to manually add opencl.dll. Everything you need should come with the drivers. If you happened to pick an obsolete version, it could be contributing to your problem. I'd remove the one you added before installing the correct drivers.

Uninstalling the Toshiba recommended driver and sneaking the Catalyst 12.8 driver helped with getting around the FATAL_IO_ERROR. Now all there is to do is 49,500,000 more steps on Project 11293. I'll update whether the project completes or not in about 28 hours.

I wouldn't call getting an updated driver from the hardware manufacturer "sneaking" They made the GPU, after all, and Toshiba got the original driver from them.

I'll clarify what I meant by "sneaking". AMD's display driver support pages lack clear and direct routes to their various display driver versions without the assistance of a Google engine search. For instance if I follow their support pages as stated they direct all Toshiba/Sony VIAO/Panasonic laptop owners to their respected OEM sites and drivers. In addition, their AMD Mobility Driver Verification Tool states I'm running incompatible hardware and directs me back to the laptop OEM who do not provide an adequate driver version. In short, I had to sneak around to find the particular driver version and ignore their warnings of incompatibility.

Back to business, the AMD Catalyst 12.8 driver is working for F@H 7.3.6 on the AMD A6-3400M (Radeon HD 6520G) APU on a Toshiba L755D-S5218 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. The first project (11293) has been completed with many more to come.

Final note, the Catalyst 12.8 driver works with other functions on the laptop (VGA output, have not tested HDMI output) and sufficient (no noticeable difference) gaming performance. Thank you again for the help and recommendations.
