[#1107] ATI FirePro V4800 unsupported

It seems that a lot of GPU problems revolve around specific versions of drivers. Though AMD has their own support structure, you can often learn from information reported by others who fold.

One of the other developers noted the GPU description in the log matches an older GPUs.txt file and not the newest file.

It would seem we need to uninstall and make sure all of fah is gone, and then install the newest version and hope for a good result.

Hi,

I've uninstalled and removed all data from my 7.4.0 client, then installed version 7.4.2. My GPU is still shown as UNSUPPORTED

Please open the GPUS.txt file on your system and post the line of data for the V4800 in that file.

Thanks for reconfirming this information (again).

There has been progress made on this issue according to the bug tracking notes for ticket #1107. In my thoroughness when troubleshooting, I removed and readded the entry for the V4800 in the Whitelist, thinking there might have been a hidden character or something blocking the operation. As it turns out, this removal and addition highlighted an unknown bug in the update routine of the GPUs.txt process, which is the cause of the unsupported problem for a supported device.

The notes suggest the problem will be fixed in the next client release. No guarantee or ETA, but definitely progress. Thanks for hanging in there.

Hi,

Today I checked ticket 1107 and realized that my problem is fixed in version 7.4.3, but now version 7.4.4 also has entered open beta. Should I use 7.4.3 or 7.4.4?

Try Version 7.4.4 - it contains the latest bug-fixes incl. those of Version 7.4.3.
