OpenCL

It seems that a lot of GPU problems revolve around specific versions of drivers. Though AMD has their own support structure, you can often learn from information reported by others who fold.

OpenCL

Post by maxorsson »

Hello,

AMD Catalyst's version 12.1 have a built-in OpenCL but latest versions doesn't include it. So my question is where to get OpenCL libraries/stuff and how to get them work with newer Catalyst versions. I found an OpenCL.msi package and installed it but GPU-Z shows no OpenCL computing enabled (with Catalyst ver. 12.1 it is marked as working). Thanks.

As I recall, AMD dropped further support for OpenCL past version 12.1 for drivers installed on Win XP. To get support for newer drivers you would have to upgrade your OS to at least Vista, Windows 7 would probably be the better minimum to choose if you stay with Windows. Other paths to getting OpenCL working on XP with newer drivers are not going to work.
