AMD driver 15.7

It seems that a lot of GPU problems revolve around specific versions of drivers. Though AMD has their own support structure, you can often learn from information reported by others who fold.

AMD driver 15.7

Post by foldy »

I tried new AMD driver 15.7 on Windows and had no problem so far.
The performance is the same as AMD driver 14.12 on my GPU AMD R9 280.

ah, so the tweak with older opencl files is still a must for us with gcn1.0 :/

I can't comment on the older gnc cards anymore since I upgraded from my 2 7970's to the Amd Fury X. Just fired up FAH and it's outperforming both of them on core 17 Project 9201(210,4,513) TPF 1min 36 sec, PPD 340040 ish seems to fluctuate a bit depending on how many browser tabs I have up Temp is a steady 48c fan speed 994 rpm. 15.7 driver seems pretty stable so far.

If they're active tabs and using the GPU for rendering, that can be expected, Otherwise it might be you've got enough things running to consume enough RAM to thrash (Is your disk light on continuously?).

For most folks who fold with a GPU, it often helps to reconfigure your browser and video player to use the CPU rather than the GPU.

Thanks for the tip Bruce. I'm pretty sure I have Firefox hardware acceleration enabled that must be it. I didn't have anything else running at the time.
