Dedicated gpu folding help

Firstly, sorry if i put this into the wrong thread (im new here)

Ok, so ive recently upgraded from my hd 5770 to a r9 290. Ive been folding on it for a while but it gets too loud overnight (reference design).
However, i have this hd 5770 lying around, and i saw some people talking about running a dedicated folding gpu.
So ive chucked it into my rig and changed the slots in FAH so the only component folding is my 5770.
My problem is that it is not being utilized properly and I am only getting a measly 73 PPD
If its any help, amd catalist refers to it as the "Disabled Adapter", but i checked in device manager and it is enabled.

Thanks in advance

You don't say what version of windows your running. That said the hd5000 series is considered legacy the 15.7.1 is the last official driver for that card. There is also 1 last beta 16.2.1 which may help supporting the older card and still give recent support for your new r9 290. http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/d ... 1%20-%2064 bad news is no further updated driver for the 290 as long as your using the older card.

Last time I tried to run a 6950, the latest beta driver (from the legacy pages) didn't have OpenCL support enabled. I had to stick to 15.7.1 WHQL drivers to get it to work.

Thanks toTOW for the feedback. I just saw them and mentioned it, I don't have a comp set up to test older cards.

I wonder if it's possible to use the opencl installation folder from 15.7 or 14.9 even and add it to the 16.2.1 like I as doing with the drivers when I ran the 7970's...
I'll be working on my daughters comp soonish, I need to do some updating to run Win 10 on it. I'm pretty sure it has a pre-gnc card in it. Will report back when I find the time.

@mapooo I hope this helps a bit.

Ok, im on Win10 64bit
I just noticed as i started my computer today, when i dont have my FAH control open it sounds significantly louder, but as soon as i open the client the noise dies.
Ive just checked web control and now im getting 660 PPD.
Interesting

Also im running Catalyst 15.8 as well as 15.12 (Radeon Software: Crimson)
Ill check my driver settings out and see what i can find.

ok, i didnt find much.
Being the master elite pc user i am i instantly clicked the install driver updates popup for RS:C, and as advised, i lost support for my 5770.
By now i think ill just banish it back to my motherboard box and wait till i have another use for it.

Thanks for all of your support.

Win7-64, Crimson 16.12.1, F@H 7.4.15, CPU6 + GPU slots. I'm getting ready to swap out my AMD 7750 for an AMD RX460.

I plan to FINISH the GPU slot before the swap. Will I need to delete and recreate the GPU slot, re-install F@H (either clean or over the top), or something else?

As the same driver can be used and the gpu is replaced and not added then it should work out of the box.

Just a warning for others: It wasn't quite so simple...

Though the 7750 and R460 are covered in the same driver package, they apparently use different drivers. I wound up doing a clean install of both the Crimson package and F@H. Only took a few minutes, but might have saved time by uninstalling Crimson before swapping the cards...
