GTX680M

Post by Luscious »

Mod Note: Duplicate posts have been deleted per forum policy.

Looking to see if the following graphics card has been added on Stanford's end:

0x10de:0x11a0:2:2:GK104 [GeForce GTX 680M]

Tried editing GPUs.txt with the above line, which DOES get both GPU's recognized with 7.1.52, but won't download WU's or start folding.

Can we please add GTX680M? Thx!

Please read the other topics in this forum, especially viewtopic.php?f=83&t=21205. If the GPU you are asking about is not listed in the latest GPUs.txt downloadable from the server, you can not add it by editing the file yourslef and adding it. It can take several days to weeks for a new card to be added by PG.

The latest beta of V7 does automatically update the GPUs.txt file, version 7.2.9.

Thanks Joe for the heads-up and sorry for the double-post. I've been to that link and looked at the download listed there, but didn't see the GTX680M. That post is also dated April - wasn't sure if the download mentioned there has been updated since then.

I'll wait patiently for PG to do their stuff, just wanted to confirm if this was on their list of to-do's. Possible to get a quick reply here once it's done?

The linked file has been updated a number of times since April as new device ID's have come in and been approved. Will check the list again in a while to see if it has been added.

Much appreciated and thanks!!! I plugged in the values for the GTX680M shown there ( 0x10de:0x11a0:2:3) and did get both cards recognized, but am still unable to get WU's or fold,

(from log)
03:34:01:WU01:FS01:Connecting to assign-GPU.stanford.edu:80
03:34:01:WU01:FS01:News: Welcome to Folding@Home
03:34:01:WARNING:WU01:FS01:Failed to get assignment from 'assign-GPU.stanford.edu:80': Empty work server assignment

This keeps repeating in the log - I get the feeling I missed a step somewhere. Advice?

As I wrote before, you have to wait until PG adds it to the list. You can't add it by editing the gpus.txt file yourself. Until PG adds it, you might as well delete the folding slot. The ticket just represents that your GPU and the others listed are on the to-do list, when the ticket is closed out then you can use it.

FYI

My ASUS HD7470 shows a Device ID of 1002-6760 in GPU-z.

In GPUs.txt it shows that ID being used for:

0x1002:0x6760:1:4:Seymour [AMD Radeon HD 6470M]

Fah log:

17:20:44: OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
17:20:44: OS Arch: AMD64
17:20:44: GPUs: 1
17:20:44: GPU 0: ATI:4 Seymour [AMD Radeon HD 6470M]
17:20:44: CUDA: Not detected

I'm not currently folding with this card but may in the future so I'm reporting what appears to be a discrepancy between GPUs.txt and my card's ID.

Not wrong.

The last AMD driver I installed listed the Device ID for 0x6760 as: "AMD Radeon HD 6400M Series"

Mobile devices often get renamed and repackaged... See also: http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon ... 752.0.html
