Windows 7 64bit
Intel Core i5 2500k@4Ghz
Nvidia gtx 1080ti driver 441

I folded successfully on AMD R9 280. Maybe there are some driver settings to set performance / power usage to maximum instead of adaptive/optimum which prevents drops to lower power states?

That would make sense. I'm normally an NVIDIA user, and leave AMD to the laptops since I prefer their APUs. Video playback causes the GPU to enter a different performance state. Once I have more time, I'll see what tweaks are available to adjust the GPU.

I did successfully start the iGPU of an APU but it was too slow to be useful (given the way I use my laptop) so I quit. I don't remember the details. (I should test it again.)
