PNaCl to be removed from Chrome next year

Postby foldinghomealone » Fri Jun 02, 2017 11:06 am

Dear all,

Just read that PNaCl will be removed from Chrome next year and WebAssembly will be used instead.
Are there any information regarding NaCl-folding. Will this be continued or discontinued?
Is it possible to transfer code to WebAssembly? Are ther any other alternatives available?

>>We will remove support for PNaCl in the first quarter of 2018 everywhere except inside Chrome Apps and Extensions.<<

Looks like NaCL folding is already also a Chrome App so only the direct web access will not work anymore?

Thanks for your answer. I don't fold with NaCl but I hope that support can be continued

I doubt that FAH has developed a plan yet. 1Q18 is still a long way away on an academic calendar, and too much is unknown.

Will Google provide a migration plan to a follow-on product?
Will that migration we easy/difficult?
How much science is actually being produced by NaCL?
(Etc.)
