Does that mean, as long as we don't update our browsers, we will be able to continue folding on NaCl? :D
That would be good news, as my company pc hardly ever gets updated aside from security patches.

Maybe, but I doubt it.

FAH's infrastructure is all about how the various FAH servers talk to each other. I have no idea when those changes may happen, but probably "soon"

That's bad news, only way to folding at work was Nacl. I really hope that an webassembly version is implemented.

I'm certain that
1) a Webassembly version will NOT be written (per the end-of-life announcement)
and
2) Even if it were, it wouldn't help because the infrastructure changes still wouldn't be implemented.

... sorry, but FAH was intended for "At Home" and not for "At Work"

According to "Server Stats," core GRO_B0_NACL has been removed from all WS. Today, for 8 hours, I have no assigned WU.
Is this the "End-Of-Life" of NaCl?

Apparently yes, it's over.

Yes,

Code: Select all
Requesting a work server assignment.

That's all we're getting.
It was good for how long it lasted.
Now I'll just have to bring my portable unit to work again.

Try running one of these clients on your work computer.
They run from any folder, and don't need administrative privileges.
https://download.foldingathome.org/rele ... fahclient/

I assumed that most 'power users' ran FAH using these standalone clients.

Thanks!
You may want to use a different compression technique for the Windows client (rar or Zip) as some free compression programs don't support .tar.

To set up your user key and passwd, run:
Code: Select all
fahclient --configure

before starting fahclient, to get the bonus activated.

Without Admin permissions, one can open the Windows 2008 .bz file with peazip, and open the tar file inside the bz, with Winrar portable.
One has to install 2 separate (free, admin-less) programs to unpack the files.

Also, one of my PCs has given this message:
Code: Select all
22:14:09:WU00:FS00:0xa7:WARNING:Failed to open 'checkpt.crc': Failed to open 'checkpt.crc': Access is denied.
22:14:09:WU00:FS00:0xa7:WARNING:: iostream stream error: Access is denied.

It does appear to be continuing the WU.
It may be that on that computer I have installed the 32 bit version, instead of the 64.

*Edit: I run Windows 10, 64 bit version, and found that the FAHClient for Win 10 32 bit doesn't give me the error, but Windows 8 64 bit does.
However on Windows 7, FAHClient for Win 8 64 bit works fine.
