FAHControl hangs and eats full CPU core

Postby Duce H_K_ » Sat Jan 16, 2016 7:37 pm

After several hours being minimized into taskbar I restored it and tried to resize its window. Mouse cursor stood like this Image when mouse hover FAHControl. Think it's a bug.
Folding itself under windows 8.1 has no problems.

I don't see any sign of the Viewer on your screenshot (FAHViewer.exe) ... did you mean FAHControl ?

It happened on my machines from time to time ...

This is the reason why I don't leave FAHControl running, I just start it when needed.

Please reset the verbosity to the default value of 3. Increasing it just makes it harder to debug.

It appears to be a problem associated with GPU processing (failing to process the screen refresh). Common problems associated with GPUs include stability issues associated with overclocking ("from time to time") as well as simply overheating due to poor air circulation. Driver problems can also be related, particularly some revisions that configure a fan profile designed to be silent rather than to keep the GPU cool.

Do inspect the Microsoft Event Viewer for that period of time.

Again... while crunching p9209. I reset verbosity to '3'. FAHControl.exe process terminates correctly. Not found event logs associated to it. It's strange window behavior. I used Process Explorer to suspend process, then window->restore, resumed the process and it had been restored. Couldn't do it trough taskbar. Also manipulating window position was possible, but not size. Contents of window was black
Yes GPU OC is present and It can be a reason. But current temp of GTX970 is 68°C and afaik it is not critical. Driver is 347.88 now, I changed it's version due to gaming issues

I used DDU utility. I don't remember what buttons I pushed but I hope previous version of drv removed entirely. Installation was trough device manager (devmgmt.msc)
