FAHViewer unable start-up

Postby eric2kwok » Thu Jan 25, 2018 7:07 am

I'm using CentOS 7.4 Build: 1708, I installed 3 rpm packages respectively(FAHClient/FAHViewer/FAHControl), when I executed this command /usr/bin/FAHViewer : got this error message: Fatal error in __driConfigOptions line 14, column 0: out of memory.
Aborted (core dumped)
what's happen with that? Anyone can help me to solve this issue? Am I missing something? (e.g. May I need to install ATI drivers)
I'm using x86_64 system

In Windows 10 I can successfully open the FAHViewer, but in Linux I'm fail.

Welcome to foldingforum.org, eric2kwok.

What was the status of FAHClient? Was it processing a WU or trying to download one?

FAHViewer depends on having access to the data produced by FAHClient and the associated FAHCores.

You could also try the viewer on Windows to remote view on Linux ... if FAHControl see the remote system too

what's the reason why I can't see my FAHViewer? Because my video card was too old and unsupported, so I can't open the FAHViewer.

Mod edit: added Code tags to log

22:44:10: GPU 0: UNSUPPORTED: M24 [Mobility Radeon X600]

That means the GPU is not supported for doing GPU folding calculations, and if I recall correctly, it never was.

But being a GPU that is based on technology over a dozen years old, it is quite possible either its hardware or its driver is missing some feature needed for the FAHViewer. The only requirement I can recall is OpenGL2.0 or better, which supposedly your GPU supports. But it might not have been included in the video driver you have installed, or is an optional part of the install? There might be other requirements that are not being met for FAHViewer as well.

There were some problems with FAHViewer 7.4.4 in Linux. Have you tried FAHViewer 7.4.16 (beta)?

Which version of FAHCore_21 is your system using?

How can I know which version of FAHCore_21 was my system using?
Where can I download FAHViewer7.4.16(beta)?
I'm using the ATI Radeon X600SE Graphic Card, if I installed the linux driver, is that possible to run the FAHViewer successfully?
If I using VirtualBox simulate the CentOS 7.4 Linux system, how can I install the video driver?

In FAH's log, you'll find the version number soon after FAHCore_21 (re-)starts.

Subject: FAHClient V7.4.16 (Open-Beta)

Most hypevisers (probably including Virtual Box) emulate most features of the GPU, but omit some things that are essential to FAH and the drivers. You probably won't get FAH to work unless your OS is running with a real GPU instead of a virtual one.
