Windows 10 Reboot removed GPU

Postby chabgood » Wed Feb 28, 2018 7:58 pm

When I reboot my windows 10 system and restart FAH it pulls back in the AMD card that I removed and removes one of my nvidia cards. Ideas?

Most likely this can be fixed by reinstalling FAH. Some of the setup tasks are done during the first startup and you may need to re-do them to establish the hardware configuration that's initially identified at that time.

It's a good idea to do a FINISH on (at least) the GPU slot(s) and I'd probably remove the GPU slot, itself. The other option is to let the installer remove the data, but then you'd better FINISH all WUs.

It might be a good idea to better clean your AMD drivers too ...

I have 3 1070 card and 1 1080, in slots 1-4 in the 5 slot MB. If I put a card in the 5th slot a few slots gets removed.

I really don't understand what you're saying.

Please check the current log and the history of previous logs. Show me the system configuration in the top 100 lines before and after the change plus enough of the log to show how the slots and WUs changed.

What are the bus speeds with 4 cards and with 5 cards?

If you install the GPU drivers from NVidia, it comes with OpenCL -- or you can install OpenCL from other reputable sources. Microsoft occasionally updates the GPU drivers and they install the same ones as you can get from NV but they OMIT the optional OpenCL feature, so windowsupdate can screw up FAH's ability to run FAHCore_21 (or other OpenCL software).

If your reboot included a driver update from Microsoft, that might look like the reboot broke a GPU slot.
