Stats appear to have frozen up during update

Post by drougnor »

Just noticed during my usual morning routine that EOC is reporting that there were no updates for their 3am update, and my own stats scraper is showing the same numbers for the last several hours.

I checked the 'Donor Stats' page, and see This message:
'
update started at Thu Feb 17 05:00:01 UTC 2011 (Wed Feb 16 21:00:01 PST 2011)'

Just thought you should be aware.

Kakao stats also showed a decline of updates. I guess there is some server(s) is not working.

My question is are the WUs submitted going to receive proper credit sometime today?

My farm submitted a TON of them this morning so far.

May I assume that they are "secure"?

So far, every time this has happened, there's been no work lost. Each work server keeps separate logs of the work completed which is centralized somehow. The portion we see on our side is a tiny process that is pulling data from those databases to make the .txt file, so it is VERY doubtful that anything is getting lost at all.

If anything, we'd be seeing work rejection notices on our clients.

3 updates now with no stats - would be nice if someone would even respond with a "we are working on it"

Hopefully means that everyone is working on the problem (*JK) but that was something I expected when I came in to work today and saw my stats flat-lined since midnight.

Oh well points is only a small part of why I'm doing this, the science is the major, though it's nice to have the cake and be able to eat it too.

Even if the points never get added, it wouldn't matter cause no ones getting points.

the work units are getting submitted...so they will have a record and can calculate the points
just the server that posts the results is hung..

so it seems

I am not that sure! Many times I have notice that point for severals bigadv WUs of mine included bonus have been lost, I speak about 2 - 300K points sometime. I think that the reason is that the stat-server is down for no. It would help if Stanford could tell us what is going on?

'Fraid Not. Points have been lost in the past when stats servers have gone down. In theory they should not be lost but in practice some do and cannot be recovered. Science is the goal but points make it more competitive and so F@H wins. Without the team challenge and their help I would not be where I am now

As long as the work servers are functioning properly, the stats should register with the next successful update. I'll pass a note to the California folks to see what's going on.

We are working on it. There shouldn't be any major loss of points, but we'll know more in a little bit.
