GPU2 open beta

Testing the Windows GPU client.

256MB is enough for the current projects, but may not be for future projects. Having more memory will also allow the client to behave better when other apps using the GPU are running (non-exclusive) to avoid swapping memory on and off the board. In short, 512MB is still recommended.

What do you have for a CPU?

I have an Opteron 185@2.8Ghz. Apparently I'm not seeing full GPU utilization due to my "slow" CPU. Dang, its time to upgrade.

FYI, I could not get it to install until I uninstalled 6.10 beta 3.
point of fact, I uninstalled all previous versions of FAH so I really don't know which version was causing the blockage.
Working great now, I don't know how to predict ppd, but it is running at 58 seconds per percent on project 2799.
my system 3870 no OC, AMD X2 5600 OC @ 2.968, WindowsXP Pro, net framework 3.5, CAT 8.3 hotpatch.
GPU usage shows 73%, but I am running monitor at 1920x1200.
GPU core temp at 42 C, but I did pull the OEM cooler and replaced w/ ZALMAN FC - ZV9 2 Ball VGA Cooler
Should be done first WU in an hour!!

I have similar card - stock cooler and temperature is around 70 C.

It should be OK (my HD2600pro):

GPU core temp at 42 C

I have similar card - stock cooler and temperature is around 70 C.

Reporting temperatures isn't very worthwhile, unless the ambient temperature is also reported.

edit---> oops  I meant is not

Is, or is not? ;)

In addition to ambient temp, a hint at your cooling methods would be even more helpful. Fanless heatpipe? Heatsink with 140mm fan blowing 100 CFM? Water block? Phase Change? etc...

Thanks.

Results are ~1.9 MB. Download is very small >100 KB I think.

Additional info:
Room temp 65 F (Indiana, still winter here no matter what anyone says)
case coolmaster 830 w/ 120mm fans
zalman FC = 2slot cooler heatsink w/fan(OEM 3870 was also 2slot but fan ramp was very loud)
1560-3600 adjustable RPM(manual)
20-36 dBA
I mentioned the GPU cooler for 2 reasons:
First, the fan ramp on the OEM 3870 is very poor=too low for too long and then 100% very loud(you can use RivaTuner to adjust, but I just like to set and leave and not have the fan ramp up and down)
Second, while there are a number of after market GPU coolers available, I like the Zalman style because of the wider fins which seem to be more dust tolerant than many fine fined coolers that seem to become fouled quickly.

extreme case cooling required for NV 590 chip set (not cpu or GPU) on ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe (good board, 8 phase cpu power, Hot NV 590 chip set)

Hope this helps anyone wanting to keep their card cool while folding! Best Regards
