F@H Monitor Sidebar Gadget

Post by Artistus »

Hello everyone! :)

How do you like this tiny gadget, designed by me and coded by my friend Dr.Oz, both from Overclockers.UA?

Actually gadget can monitor only V6 folding clients by scanning working directories, including network paths and guest virtual Linux clients as well.
Unfotunately, monitoring of V7 client is not supported, because of lack of time.

There are 25 color themes, some of which are styled to some of vendors and Ukrainian Overclockers site, where we are registered.

If you can't get through link, try through proxy
If doesn't work, go direct on softpedia

And don't miss instructions on first start of the gadget or on the gadget's site (how to add your clients).

Tragically there is no link nor sign of any instructions, so I will just delete it.

Instructions are seen just after start on the gadget itself. And on the site too (with screenshots).
"Click on "arrows" in top left corner of the gadget..." is told there.

Even in the gadget description on the Windows panel with other gadgets there are instructions how to feed your foldig clients' dirs to the gadget fly-out.

But you missed them. Hm... sorry or what...

Does anybody have the skills required to develop a similar gadget for a smart-phone? (Would that even be possible?)

If there was sufficient demand, then maybe we would create something similar for android..

I'd support that. There's a market there: I've tried and so far failed to find a good F@h app.

Good news: yesterday we reached data exchange with V7 Client!
But some design work is pending. We wish the gadget to be very useful, to look excellent and to work without bugs.

Under sifficient demand I mean at least 200 potential users, which are ready to pay 1-2$ for such stuff on android market for example..

But don't think we are mercantile.
Here in Ukraine I'm therapeutist in regional polyclinic and I earn ridiculous state 200$ per month, as well as engineer - coder.
And for me that's for work from 8:00 to 15:42 Mo-Fri and having 25 patients per day. And without parents I'm nothing being 27 years old.
Unbelievable, yeah? That's ukrainian reality. And that's why I'm LOL about EURO-2012. It can crash every minute even before the beginning.

Congrats on connecting to the client! I imagine that it's an important first step.

I searched the Android market for "Folding@home" and only found "FAHDroid". There's a free version with over a thousand downloads, and one that costs $5 or so with over ten downloads. I think it came out a year or two ago. That info might be helpful to your decision.
