Project: 3408 (Run 1, Clone 629, Gen 7)

Am running Project 3408 at the moment. Have been with F@H since Nov 2006; and this is the largest and slowest running WU I have had thus far. According to the Folding@Home GUI display, 3406 will not be finished until May 7th during the afternoon Central Time Zone (it was started during the morning of April 30th). Thus far, it has finished 816/4000 frames averaging 2m 45s per frame.

Project 3408 earns 'only' 388 points for a weeks work; think something may be wrong with my system; or this job should be recalculated..? I normally average from 750 to 1300 points per week. There have been no significant software changes here; nor do I suspect a virus/worm/etc. taking up valuable CPU time. I am open to suggestions for improving my system's performance or things I can do to the 5.03 client in the background. Should I give the beta GUI client a try?

The Machine Desktop w/ Windows XP Pro, using 5.03 GUI Client
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200 w/ 1 Gig RAM (not overclocked at the moment)

Here's your problem:

[16:10:49] - Previous termination of core was improper.

It appears that the previous shutdown of the FAH client wasn't proper and hence, it disabled optimizations. To fix this, quit the client and restart it. You should see messages like "Assembly optimizations on if available" and "Extra SSE Boost OK". Feel free to post here if you need any help.

Thank you very much for the quick and helpful hint. I tried this yesterday and see the process is now more than twice as fast; around 1m 11sec per frame versus 2m 45sec per frame. The Extra SSE Boost and Assembly Optimization does make a big difference...
