Download isn't working for me in Firefox.

Postby aoeu » Fri Sep 07, 2012 2:06 am

Freshly formatted hard drive (clearing out the cruft)
Windows 7 64 bit with all the patches
Fresh Firefox 15.0
NoScript turned off
The Set box has nothing but an empty white rectangle.
In IE8 it worked perfectly and all three instances are Folding properly.

I turned Noscript back on for the screenshot. I normally forbid Facebook.

Until we sort this out, click on "Other Platforms" and it lists all of the latest clients.

Other Platforms is not popping up a box in FireFox for me.
For myself I resolved the problem by using IE8.
A recent check does produce a popup with an apparently appropriate link in IE8 but not FF.

Like this?

Java(TM) Platform SE 7 U7
Next Generation Java Plug-in 10.7.2 for Mozilla browsers 1.7.0.7 Up to Date

I hadn't but this didn't fix either problem. I did a hard reboot just to be sure.

Have a look at the following post and try the links:

viewtopic.php?p=213523#p213523

If they work try the download page again.

Also, make sure stanford.edu is set to allow on the whitelist in noscript (options - whitelist tab).

The popups in the Ready and Fold boxes were working before I added this java bit. Only the set box has issues.

@bollix47

On that page the first link led to a possible issue

The second resolved to a gif.

Is there some reason Mozilla doesn't trust?

Yes, just click on "I Understand the Risks" and add the certificate ... the issue involves a certificate that is valid but hasn't been updated in Firefox.

It worked but is a rather distasteful kludge.

Why did IE8 work but not FireFox?

Here at Chez aoeu it is bedtime. I hope I was able to help.

Basically, when you use IE it automatically adds the required certificate without any notice but Firefox doesn't do that without warning you and allowing you to choose whether or not to add the certificate. The different behavior probably has something to do with their respective security settings.
