I expect everybody attempting GPU folding at this time is getting the following in their log:

03:15:22:WU01:FS01:Connecting to assign-GPU.stanford.edu:80
03:16:25:WARNING:WU01:FS01:Failed to get assignment from 'assign-GPU.stanford.edu:80': Failed to connect to assign-GPU.stanford.edu:80: Connection timed out
03:16:25:WU01:FS01:Connecting to assign-GPU.stanford.edu:8080
03:17:28:WARNING:WU01:FS01:Failed to get assignment from 'assign-GPU.stanford.edu:8080': Failed to connect to assign-GPU.stanford.edu:8080: Connection timed out
03:17:28:ERROR:WU01:FS01:Exception: Could not get an assignment

This suggests that the server assign-GPU.stanford.edu has its work unit assignment services turned off - no responses on ports 80 or 8080, although it does respond to standard ping commands. It looks to be a long work day for the sysadmins! It can't be easy having Dr. Pande looking over your shoulders. Hopefully he's bringing in supper for the admins. And coffee. Lots of coffee. And oatmeal-raisin cookies! From Starbucks.

Ya'll ever going to get this GPU assignment crap fixed? Got 9 GPUs waiting for Core 17 work........

Maybe I should sell the 5x 7970s to bitcoin miners and make atleast $100 per card.

I'm sure you are trying, but this is a bit frustrating.

19 GPUs waiting here as well. Seriously, how hard can it be to get a new server up-and-running, even if it's just temporary, and diagnose/debug the existing server off-line? Doesn't PG have a spare server for exactly these situations? Indeed, frustrating as all get-out.

No, they don't. Hence the recent post on how they were going to add a backup AS for GPUs to handle just this sort of problem. Can't come soon enough.

Ah, I see some one forgot to wind the rubber bands up in the server before going home again.

No, I'm not going to have a rage fit. No point when it comes to computers. As they say doo doo occurs. If computers worked perfectly there would be a lot of bored geeks wandering from place to place looking for something to trouble shoot. Although it would be blissfully restful for a time.

Wow, easy now. It's not the end of the world  . Give them time to get another server up and running and then we can all turn our room heaters back on again  . I am sure they are trying.

Methinks the sysadmins in California have no idea how freaking cold it is in the rest of the USA. No idea how much we need our Folding Farms to heat the room. And nothing heats a room than an nVidia GTX 780 a-Folding on all of its cores.

GPU WU Server is not responding and hasn't been for at least six hours. Is this going to be a once a week thing now?

Need to drink more hot tea (or switch on AC)

Good luck with error fixing ... I feel with the sys admins ...

"Greetings Professor Falken. Would you like to play a game?" Something massively connected, like WoW perhaps?

I did wonder though why my room temperature was down 4 degrees Fahrenheit, when I woke up. Saves me looking at the furnace. Winner!

Still I am happier with Stanford server uptime, then on my previous "open-source software for volunteer computing and grid computing" project.

My living room is six degrees colder now (with the heater on) since my folding has ceased . 3 GTX 580s heats a room pretty good as well, johnblommers.

waaaaaaa! I wanna fold!
I'm in Australia, it's summer here so I can only fold at night (10.30pm here, still 28c and 72% humidity)

Please can I have some work?
