[#1107] ATI FirePro V4800 unsupported

It seems that a lot of GPU problems revolve around specific versions of drivers. Though AMD has their own support structure, you can often learn from information reported by others who fold.

Hi,

0. I have double checked my ID with GPU-Z, it is 0x1002:0x68c8:1:4
1. My ID is in GPU.txt, which from what I understand is the greylist.
2. If GPU.txt is not the whitelist, please point me to the whitelist so that I can check.
3. From what I read on AMD site and Wikipedia, this card does support OpenCL, is there any other requirement?
4. How do I do this?
5. I've download and install the latest driver package from AMD site ( version 13.152.4)

Some of those steps would need to be done by a mod, so don't sweat it.

Thanks for verifying that information, but I need a little more info because the parts don't quite add up.

The V4800 was added to the Greylist (both white and black in same list) several months ago. It was white listed as being a supported device. That's the 1:4 part you see in the GPUs.txt file. That's the part that doesn't add up. The client should read the file and not say unsupported in the log.

First, did you need to update that file manually? As in did you have to download the file from the link in the forum? If yes, where was the file saved to, what folder?

Hi,

I didn't update the GPU.txt file. I just check that file in FAHClient data directory, once I see that file already contains my card, I just leave it alone.

Let's force fah to download the file again. Delete the GPUs.txt file and then quit the client from the tray icon. Wait a minute or two, then restart the client. Verify fah downloaded a new file.

Quit the client again. Wait and restart again. Does the log still show the v4800 as unsupported?

Sorry for all the hoop jumping. I haven't seen this problem before.

Hi,

I've followed your instrunction and deleted GPUs.txt, quit client then restarted. However, the client did not attempt to redownload the greylist, it just started folding on CPU.

After that, I tried downloading the GPUs.txt file from fah site and put in manually in AppData/Roaming/FAHClient (I got there via data directory short cut of the client in start menu). But still, my card is reported as unsupported.

I will have to contact the developers. Never seen this happen before.

Is there a line in your config.xml file that says something like GPU = false?

If you want, you could give V7.4.0 Beta FAHClient a chance and see if your issue is resolved or not (viewtopic.php?f=94&t=25559). I would recommend a fresh installation so make sure that you finish the current WUs before doing the installation.

Sorry, that GPUs setting won't show unless using the verbosity 5 setting for the log.

Try the new beta version as suggested. Couldn't hurt at this point.

@tsukumogami, What output do you get when you run FAHCient.exe --lspci on the command line?

OK, I'll try the beta version once my current WU finishes.

Try version 7.4.2. I think Joseph updated GPUs.txt for your card.
Delete any existing GPUs.txt before starting, so a new one will be downloaded.

Please note that the developer has stated that the issue is fixed in V7.4.2 (https://fah.stanford.edu/projects/FAHCl ... #comment:1). Could you please try again and see if your issue is fixed or not?
