PETITION?

It seems that a lot of GPU problems revolve around specific versions of drivers. Though NVidia has their own support structure, you can often learn from information reported by others who fold.

PETITION?

Post by Ricorocks »

Two days in a row now at web 'control' yellow circle indicating idle gpu, solution re-boot. Happened with 376.53, 376.48, 378.66

NVIDIA has this 'open cl' known flaw on it's back burner, for quite sometime. Is version 2.0 coming who knows? ATI has upgraded, so why is NVIDIA being quiet? I would suggest the handful of folders, griping at NVIDIA forums, has too little inertia/momentum, to get ANYONE'S attention for a fix. How about let's start a petition perhaps other DC projects could join in signing.

Suggest petition be directed at: Mr. Jen-Hsun Huang CEO, President, & Co-founder NVIDIA Corp

NVIDIA Corp
2701 San Tomas Expressway
Santa Clara, CA 95050

408-486-2000
www.nvidia.com

twitter: @nvidia
F. Book NVIDIA

FYI I've bought 4 NVIDIA based GPU's, just for folding, we collectively represent significant sales to NVIDIA, & this buggy project FIX would increase WU production.

NOTE: The petition could be written online at: www.change.org

I cannot help but think that if he gets involved with annoying someone else, it has to lighten our load. I had to use the FOE button on him last week.

In 2012, Linus Torvalds, literally, looked into a camera and said to Nvidia, "NVIDIA, f#@% you" because of their attitude towards the consumer market. Nothing has really changed since then...

I don't know what is going wrong on your systems but I never get a yellow circle or idle GPU.

Friend or Foe

I don't think there is a generic problem here. I've got 10+ nvidia rigs running just happily with months of uptime and never seen the yellow circle. I've got a few longstanding issues with FAHClient and hung up/downloads but everything chugs along quite happily with drivers new and old. Fortunately the core_21 fix came out before windows pushed the new driver on me. The issues you're seeing seem to be peculiar to you and certainly don't seem to be widespread.
Have you posted any relevant logs to let people help with whatever problems you're seeing?

There's no segment where this is "the many".
Folding is a minute amount of NVIDIA sales...
The issue you describe is a minute amount of NVIDIA folders...
Petitions that have actually done something is a minute amount of change.org...

Thought this was a common problem due to that open cl thing. From 1-16 - 2-18

Longest time frame All GPU's (wheel) green 14 days

During that same time frame 8 days, showed yellow.

My 32 bit machine with a 750ti & win 7 - does not fail.

My 64 bit win 7 with 1050ti driver (during that time span drivers were/are 376.48 now current 378.66)
My 64 bit win 10 with 960 & 1060 (during that time span drivers were/are 376.53 " " 378.66)

On each install used option & chose only graphics driver. All 3 machines have the same FAH beta client.

Next yellow I'll post a log.

the two 64 bit machines get all the yellow circles.

I'll bet that if you examine the log of that WU, you'll find it didn't really hang at 99% but rather significantly before that.

Bottom line: Gaming is big business. Nvidia calls the recent drivers "game-ready" for a reason. They sell far more gpus to the adherents of a single game than they do for the adherents of f@h
Then ask yourself just how many different games there are.

I looked it up yesterday and was surprised that there were only a little over 12,000 folders with ANY points in the last 7 days. http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/ ... p?s=&srt=1

And only ~5k are getting over 15k PPD (the low end of GTX 460).
