There is a NVIDIA GeForce MX150 in my laptop. PLZ add to GPUlist.txt

What is the actual output from GPU-Z or fahclient --lspci? The format you have provided is not useful as it is incorrect for adding to the GPUs.txt file.

It appears this is another variant GPU from nVidia, there are several other mobile 1050's included in the file already.

The information i pasted above is got from fahclient --lspci.
In GPU-Z its name is 'NVIDIA GeForce MX150'; GPU is 'GP108' ; device ID is '10de 1d12 - 1d72 1604'

fahclient --lspci output does not include the additional fields separated by colons that you provided. Those are incorrect for addition to the GPUs.txt file as they would misidentify the card.

As an example here is the output from fahclient --lspci for a nVidia GTX 1060:

Code: Select all

0x10de:0x1c06:NVIDIA Corporation:NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
You may have been trying to be helpful, but copying and pasting information into a line that described a different GPU may set the manufacturer and generation codes incorrectly. Specifically in this case the '1' in the first colon delimited field after the device ID incorrectly identifies the card as being an AMD GPU.

added as a GP 108 [GeForce MX150 (GT 1030)]

Good luck.

My GTX 1050ti has twice as many shaders at 50% faster clocks for about 2.25 times the performance. I get 150,000 PPD so expect under 75,000 PPD, perhaps 50,000 PPD (Points are very time critical, so 1/2 the performance will not yield 1/2 the points)

@bruce
When will the gpu GPUlist.txt file be updated?
When I play games with my laptop, I always blow it with fan and turn aircondition on(except in winter). Otherwise my laptop will turndown the frequency of cpu and gpu automaticly to avoid overheat.
BTW when I run FAH in cpu-mode(i5-7200u) its temperature was about 70℃(with usb mini-fan on in summer).But when I turn Einstein@Home(gpu core) on it will raise up to 85℃.So I may run gpu core just in winter if my laptop`s temperature is too high.I just wondering about will my gpu reach the deadline with 7*12 hours run :?:

@JimboPalmer
I trun my laptop on 7*12hours per week,So I think its PPD will be very low(F.Y.I. my cpu`s PPD is only about 4,000 now).But I just want to run FAH , help scientist to do the research,careless about PPD.

Running 7/12, I would expect a WU to take 2 days.
Consider setting it to On Idle, so it can run anytime you are not using the laptop. It will start when the screen saver does.

I have downloaded new GPUlist.txt, and run gpu WU successfully.
@JimboPalmer With Project: 11713 FAHClient estimate realtime PPD was about 37,000. I guess running 7/12 maybe left only about 15,000 PPD .
@bruce Only run cpu WU, cpu temperature is 70℃. only run gpu WU , cpu temperature is 55℃, gpu temperature is 59℃. run cpu and gpu WU together , cpu temperature is 80℃, gpu temperature is 70℃.

I think mx150 is much better than i5-7200u on both PPD and temperature in my laptop.

As a general rule, a GPU is better than a CPU in PPD and in PPD/W (and therefore in temperature).

For more PPD run 24x7. For even more PPD (and higher temps) run both GPU and CPU -- but your laptop is likely to have trouble controlling the temperature.

Thank you, bruce.

I would like to note that the MX150 that you added is the Max-Q variant (0x10de:0x1d12) and should be marked as such.

I happen to have a laptop with the normal MX150 (0x10de:0x1d10) and would like that to be added as well.

There is more information about the differences in a Notebookcheck article:

The fundamental problem with low-end graphics is that new projects are beta-tested mostly by folks with high-end GPUs so you might discover that the deadlines were never validated with hardware similar to yours. If someone happens to be assigned something they cannot complete, there's no established method of dealing with that condition. I'd like to think that it won't happen but ....

So what's the speed of the 0x1d01?

The MX150 0x1d10 gets a G3D Mark of 2108, which is close to the desktop GT 1030 with G3D Mark of 2222.

it's very commendable of you. running F@H on such a slow H/W is unbareable for me past 2 years:)
