Folding Coin disappearing

Post by tcaud »

Coin was delisted by Polinex. They have told holders they have until the end of August to exchange their funds, triggering a run on the coin.

'FoldingCoin disappearing from Poloniex' is the only news and nothing unusual here - Poloniex drops many coins (same happened to CURE last year)

Markets readjust and things continue on the other exchanges.

Currently FLDC is only listed as traded on one other exchange, and Poloniex was handling the majority of the trading in it. People holding it will have to check with the Folding Coin site to see where they can do anything with it.

It seems to be worthless at this point. More holders than money and no influx from anywhere.

I wonder why it was created in the first.

FLDC is still listed on Bittrex. When CURE was delisted on polonix some time back it took a big hit in value but eventually recovered, though it, along with most of the other coins is way down right now. I expect when BTC recovers CURE and FLDC will also do better. However that's just my opinion.

Why was it created? I'm currently folding on three rigs with 13 1080s and 1080TIs all paid for with the proceeds of selling CURE and FLDC and have produced over 5 and a half BILLION points so far, which I never could have done without the incentives.

Last few times I used Poloniex it took like a month for my fldc to get transferred in there where I could sell it. I quit using them long ago and use bittrex.

I care a lot since they enabled me to do 15 times the science I otherwise would have been able to do, which I take a lot of pride in. They paid for over $10,000 worth of hardware and continue to pay for a part of my electric bill related to folding, low as the exchange rates are right. If the coins were to disappear tomorrow and everyone folding just for the coins quit, the science would be cut to less than half of what it is now. I know I'd have to stop as I'm retired and otherwise couldn't afford the extra electricity due to folding, which for me is around $300 a month.

I agree to SteveWillis's point. If my calculations are right, it costs ~66 700$ to list FLDC at Cryptopia. Crownfunding? If the coin is listed on only one exchange means the surest path to it's death.

Or at Livecoin.net? They have CureCoin already too. Listing price 6 BTC = $42 000

@SteveWillis, my sentiments are similar to yours. I've been folding since 2001, with only an 18-month break for dabbling in BOINC. I have supported Folding for a decade and a half without any compensation whatsoever. If I were to magically recoup all the money I've spent on computer parts and electricity over the years before I joined Folding "coin" teams, I would have enough cash to purchase a new car. When I started tapping into the coin mania, it offset my electricity bill and helped me accumulate funds for my next upgrades. Those significant upgrades would not be within my hobby spending limits without the proceeds from the coins. I think cryptocurrency, except for the technology and new concepts it drives, is absolute silliness. With that said, as long as the cryptocurrency markets enable my science contributions to become stronger, I'll be part of those silly markets!

Side note: As someone mentioned above, Bittrex lists curecoin. I've mainly had very reliable service there with bitcoin and curecoin.
