New PC Build won't recognize MSI Radeon R9 380

It seems that a lot of GPU problems revolve around specific versions of drivers. Though AMD has their own support structure, you can often learn from information reported by others who fold.

New PC Build won't recognize MSI Radeon R9 380

I am new to folding, but I read as much as I could on GPUs in this forum and I can't find a similar issue.

I just built a new PC and put an MSI Radeon R9 380 in it. If you look at the log, it is identified as a Radeon 200 series, but it doesn't show up as a slot for folding. I have tried to add it on the slots tab, but it just adds a 2nd CPU slot called CPU -1. Here is the log:

That card exceeds the minimum requirements and should be fast.

A 32 Bit OS may limit your drivers The final supported driver release for x32-Bit Windows® operating systems is AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.9.3

In the taskbar to the lower right of the screen, you should see a F@H molecule icon, click it (you may need to click an Up Arrow to see it ^)

The second item in this menu is Advanced Control, click it

On this screen to the left is a Configure button, click it

Now you get a screen with a Slots tab, click it

On this white field should be a cpu item, Click Add and on the screen that comes up, find a Radio button that says GPU and click it.

Now save and exit.

Reboot and if the slot is not there, try that again. (Voodoo help, it took on the second time for me, no idea why)

I can change the man-readable portion of the GPU description, but your GPU is, in fact, properly recognized. AMD frequenstly creates a variety of names for the same basic hardware. (They may introduce differences in the drivers.)

If you run FAHControl, you should be able to add a GPU slot. (I recommend you Pause first.)
Configure > Slots > Edit (while CPU is selected, at the top, change CPU -1 to CPU 9) > OK > Add > (Select GPU in the left column) > OK ....(save)

I think that the pause is what did it, but it is running now. I am running Windows 10 Professional - 64 bit, so I'm not sure why it is being detected as Win32. Do you think it is the video driver version?
