Bug report: Server stats page lists private IP address

Post by jnv11 »

I noticed that the server stats page at https://apps.foldingathome.org/serverstats is listing the private IP address of assign2.foldingathome.org . In Cisco's NAT terminology, that address would be the inside local address. The server stats page should show the inside global address, or the IP address that the rest of the world should use when trying to contact that server. When I used nslookup to find that IP address, I got 65.254.110.245. The IP address that the exterior firewall or router is presenting to the rest of the world to represent the server should be the IP address that is showing on the server stats page.

That's a known issue (https://github.com/FoldingAtHome/fah-issues/issues/1389) and might be fixed eventually. That Server is hosted in AWS and the client will have the correct IP address in the log file :)
