Nearly idle temperature is around 39° C.

The fan looks like the HP standard fan for Z420: HP 647289-001.

PC running on the side makes no difference, here short videos:

I also try to have look at the fan profile, but I have a quite common ubuntu problem with the power management (pwmconfig): it does not recognize any sensors. I have not found an easy solution yet, looks like I have to add/change some lines in the linux kernel or something like that - phew.

I give up on the Linux power management (pwmconfig)! It still says

Code: Select all

There are no pwm-capable sensor modules installed
. This seems to be a notorious answer with at least three possible solutions which may work or not. It's quite common that no solution works - I am not the only one with this problem. That is my first real Linux dissappointment!

(This kind of feedback would be appropriate on a Linux-oriented forum. We support FAH here and that message is from Linux, not FAH.)
