Intel HD Graphics 620 not working - add to list?

Post by LoveCrypto »

Hi,

The Folding Client is not registering the Intel HD Graphics 620 on my laptop. I looked in GPUI.txt and it does appear there is an entry. However, when I run the command from the windows prompt the output looks a bit different. Can you check and add whatever is needed in order to be able to use this card?

PS C:\Program Files (x86)\FAHClient> fahclient --lspci

Welcome to the folding support forum.

That particular Intel iGPU is currently in the list based on its device ID shown in the lspci output:

Code: Select all

0x8086:0x5916:3:1:KBL GT2 [HD Graphics 620]
However use of the Intel iGPUs is a beta test at this point, and there are limited projects set up to be assigned to them. We would need to see what is recorded in your log to see if there is anything additional you can do to get an assignment for this iGPU. The first couple hundred lines of the log should be enough.

Folding with the Intel GPU is still considered to be beta testing.

1) You need the latest driver from Intel or Microsoft.
2) You'll have to add the noted setting to your configuration with FAHControl: ``gpu-beta=true`` and restart.
3) Even with the GPU enabled, you may have trouble getting assignments.
4) You'll probably still earn 0 points.

Code: Select all

I haven't received any work for my Intel GPU for a few weeks now.

I predict that they're going to have to customize the protein pool. FAH's workload has outgrown the capabilities of all but the newest iGPUs. If FAH ever releases a client to run on Android it will face a similar hurdle, but a higher one because portable phones don't connect to the charger 24x7 while the HD Graphics 620 is available 24x7 in spite as being extremely slow.
