GPU Disabled while working

It seems that a lot of GPU problems revolve around specific versions of drivers. Though NVidia has their own support structure, you can often learn from information reported by others who fold.

GPU Disabled while working

Post by enigmad87 »

Hello everyone,
I'm folding since 2 weeks now. There was no problem until this morning. When i started the FahControl saw the GPU disabled notes. Checked to logs and there is error like 'WARNING Disabling beta GPU slot 01: gpu:1:0. Beta GPUs can be tested for no points by setting ``gpu-beta=true`` in the configuration.'

My gbu is Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti.
I'm adding all the logs here. Can you help me how to fix that ?

Welcome to the folding support forum.

I can think of two possibilities that would cause this. The first is Windows Update running and replacing the video drivers with a download from MS. Those would be missing support files needed for OpenCL and CUDA processing on your RTX 3070 Ti. Updating with drivers downloaded from Nvidia and restarting would fix that.

Second is that the folding client updates the GPUs.txt file about once a month. If that fails because of a lack of network connection or is incomplete, your GPU would not show up as supported and would be disabled. You can check in the C:\ProgramData\FAHClient directory and see if the GPUs.txt file is there and how big it is. It should be about 100 KB in size. You can check to see if there is an entry for your GPU in the file. If not present or incomplete, deleting the GPUs.txt file and restarting the FAHClient process should download a new copy. Or you can download from here - https://apps.foldingathome.org/GPUs.txt - and restart the client software.

In that path GPUs.txt file was existed. I deleted it while trying the fix the problem. After your advise tried again and it's worked. Recreated GPUs.txt file in the path with the values and it's working know.
Thank you very much for the help!
