What has happened to the stats maintained at https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/

Post by Blue_Bubble »

They seem to have completely gone - this is all I get:
Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site.

We can’t connect to the server at folding.extremeoverclocking.com.
I've been using that site to track my team's statistics for many years - any suggestions what I should be using instead ?

For me the site just works - I wonder why you'd have trouble accessing EOC

I am aware that for security reasons they are blocking some IP addresses, I have issues when using a VPN but currently can see it is working.

Before this Jason had written about running into problems with DOS attacks and bots acting like DOS attacks. I currently can not connect to EOC, and I am on a Comcast connection. Some of the spam accounts I have been taking carer of recently have been through the major ISPs in the US, and a few from AWS and MS servers. Hope he can get this cleared up.

I have also checked through one of the "Is it down?" sites, sometimes they can connect and other times show EOC as down.

Yes, it's been discussed before (but I don't find the discussion) : some routes to this site seem broken ... :(

As of today I can connect to EOC again, so at least routing from my section of Comcast IPs is working again.

Edit - and 2 hours later the connection fails...

I also see such weird thing from my smartphone : it works for a while on the laptop after I activate tethering, but it stops working later ...

Something weird is happening with EOC ... :(

Indeed, something very strange is going on. Even DNS lookups appear to have disappeared:

I haven't had any problems at all connecting through Verizon. A couple times a month or so back it might take me a second try, but since then I log on at least once daily and have no issues.

If anyone or everyone wants, and the pertinent information about where you are connecting from here and I will send him an email directing him to this thread so he might be able to straighten it out.

Going by the hint that connections to EOC are working for BobWilliams757 on his Verizon connection, I tried changing my primary DNS lookup address. I had been using Google's public DNS address of 8.8.8.8 because Comcast has frequent issues with their DNS servers. I switched to Quad9's public DNS, 9.9.9.9, and now can load the EOC stats pages. So it is possible some bad entry made it onto some DNS sites and will eventually get updated with a valid one for EOC. Or there may be other wierd issues going around connected with the site.

Just a heads up....

I got a PM from someone asking if I could contact EOC about the possibility of unblocking certain DNS servers. I did send them a message, but couldn't respond to the PM as it's blocked in your settings.

For anyone that has has issues connecting to EOC stats, please check again. I got a response from Jason at EOC and he has removed a number of restrictions that were in place.

If anyone still has issues please let me know, and if you now have access please mention that as well.

Good to hear. I know how much people enjoy the stats, and Jason @ EOC was glad to make the changes.
