For v8, the maximum threads is defined by the work unit. Most WU seem to have 32 threads max. I have seen 64 max in the assignment info. But my system is 16c/32t.

41 seems very odd. Large primes are bad.
How many GPUs do you have folding?
Do you have hyperthreading disabled?

Also, there are a couple extra housekeeping threads in a running core.

I do know an earlier version of the CPU folding core based on GROMACS was tested to either 128 or 256 compute threads. But it takes a WU that has a very large number of component atoms to take advantage of that many threads. Most of the current CPU projects are too small to efficiently use more than 16 or 32 threads and are limited to that at assignment time.

No limitation on Linux as far as I remember ... Windows v7 client (or core ... or both ... I don't remember) had a limit of 32 threads because of the libraries used to build it, but I have no idea about v8 client ...

V8 is supposed to detect the true available logical cpu count. It might still download old windows cores that were compiled with the old library with a max 32 threads limit.

An absolute *bargain* at only $9,999 for the CPU alone.

You could build 8-10 Ryzen 9 7950X 16-core machines for the price of one Threadripper. But they would use more power and take up a lot more space.

And 3 x RTX6000 = 18176 cuda cores x 3 = 54288 cuda cores.
