Just curious what everyones thoughts are on Intel building Larrabee. from what i have read in my poking around the web it should have 32 cores at launch. Also found that running @ 1ghz it needs 25 of those 32 cores to run either "Gears Of War" or "F.E.A.R." at 60fps @1600x1200. At first i was impressed. then i googled F.E.A.R frame rates on todays GPUs @ 1600x1200
HD 4870... 114fps
GTX 280... 140fps
And this was in a review from summer 2008, almost 8 months and may driver updates ago. From what i have been able to find Intel wont be releasing any Larrabee products until 2010, the very last part of 2009 at the earliest. I think that ,in gaming at least, Intel is going to need a lot more cores running faster than 1ghz to keep pace with ATI/nVidia gpus coming out about the same time. Though i am sure they know that. LOL
