Can't get classic WUs: 171.64.65.62, 171.67.108.33

Post by djohnston »

171.64.65.62 seems to be offline. Would not accept work results. Restarted client until 171.64.65.111 assigned a new work unit. Finished work unit results still cannot be sent.

According to the server status page it's working ok but is busy. So I expect it just means keep on trying.

Also getting repetitive 503's for the past four hours - won't upload to WS or CS (no record there) or download. Other servers give an OK in the Browser; this one doesn't with either Port 8080 or 80.

Yep stuffed here as well, changing machineid does nothing either, nor does advmethods switch.
Pretty disappointing as usual.

I wonder if this backup could be because of Windows Systray clients not being able to do ProtoMol WU's anymore. So more people doing more of the same type of WU's that all go back to fewer servers. One of my CPU clients that finished is also waiting for this server. Are all of your clients systray ones as well?

Until the CPU load gets back under 2 I'd say just wait it out. It's currently at 3.11 so it's really busy atm.

This server does Linux as well as Window clients in case your using a Linux one. Linux should still be able to do ProtoMol WU's.

I now have three of my four Folding@Home Client Version 6.23 clients hosed. Just scanning through the server stats CPU Load I don't see where it's ever gone below 2. Why don't the clients trip over to another server to get work instead of retrying the same one? Frustrating. :(

In the past when something like this happen usually it would switch to another server to see if it could at least get another WU and/or send current finished results. I've been waiting for my client to do that not sure why it hasn't yet. I know how you feel thou my other 2 clients are going to be finished soon. So I'm just waiting to see if they encounter the same problem when finished with their current WUs.

19 attempts means the server has been having issues for several hours now. However since it's the weekend I'm not sure if Pande Group is around to look into this. Maybe Monday?

If it's more than just an overloaded server we will probably have to wait until Monday, unless it becomes a major problem then someone might come in and try to fix the problem. As of right now I think it's just an overloaded server, it's not like the server has went down as far as I know.

I just had 8 consecutive fails to get work from this server. I fixed it by restarting my client by hand, then it got assigned to a different server. You can try that. Or restart and add the -advmethods argument (or remove it, if you're using it), and hope for a different work server. 2 other clients had no problem getting work (straight from a different server) once they had finished their WUs.

Removing the -advmethods got me new WU's on my first two machines, but the finished WU's are still waiting to be sent back.

Same problem here. Not using -advmethods, so I suspect removing parameter just a co-inkidink.

In case it helps, I closed down the client and reopened a minute later, resulting in the following log entry. As others note, "Status 503" seems to be the key:
