Attempting to send results [(wininet) - Set USE IE to NO!]

Hi--this just came up this week, after successfully having done my first 6 projects. I get a message when I hover over the system tray icon of "attempting to send results", and a message at the bottom of the display of "could not connect to the work server (results)." Any help would be appreciated. My log file shows the following:

Hello jboris, welcome to the forum.

Microsoft patches have increased networking security, so the following setting no longer works...

[12:43:02] - Use IE connection settings: Yes

Change it back to the default setting of No. It's on the Connection Tab. Make sure that both IE and Proxy are not checked.

Thanks much for the help--I've made the changes and will see how it goes.

This didn't seem to help--see logfile below. Any more thoughts?

Select Status / Queue Info from the tray icon. Then post the PRCG numbers from the WU that appears to be stuck. Then one of the Mods can check on that WU. Thanks.

The WU is: (79) 171.64.65.106:8080
The rest of the data is April 7 23:32->April 11 22:09:43
Hope that helps--I'll await. Thanks for your help.

Not quite what I was looking for. Something more along the lines of Project Run Clone Generation numbers, like this (P2614 R2 C37 G73) or this Project: 2614 (Run 2, Clone 37, Gen 73)

Mostly likely, it was this WU...

Hi jboris (team 0),
Your WU (P3306 R7253 C3 G1) was added to the stats database on 2008-04-11 16:22:21 for 137 points of credit.

That's what happens with IE set to YES. The WU uploads, you get credit, but the upload acknowledgment from the server never gets back to the client. So the client keeps trying to upload the WU, even though the server has already received it. But because the Server already has received the WU, it rejects any further upload attempts. And so the WU gets stuck in your client cache.

If that is the WU in question, you can use the -delete xx switch to remove it so it stops trying to upload.

Oh, apologies--didn't know what the PRCG was--now I do. The only PRCG listed in my queue is Project: 3628 (Run 53, Clone 18, Gen 24), but I don't know if that's the present or the previous one. The WU that's "stuck" is my number 7, which is the one that completed 4/11, so I think that you're probably correct regarding the etiology of the problem. However, please give me some more detail on how to perform the task that you recommend at the end of your post--wasn't sure how to accomplish that. Thanks.

Add the switch to the shortcut that starts the client. Then remove it after the deletion.

i.e. add the -delete 07 switch.

I think I got it to work--it is no longer listed in the queue info, and it credited the 7th WU on my display. The log file states that WU 7 was deleted from the queue, so that should do it. Thanks much for your help--I'll let you know if I have further problems.

Be sure to removed the -deleted xx from the shortcut now.
