p3065 Credit not received - 171.64.65.63 [fixed-dup UserID]

Post by NoLimitssjca »

I have just created a new points server farm (3 AMD Quad cores running 2 SMP Clients each) and am excited to boost my daily PPD.

I have been receiving credit properly for 2 of 3 systems but having trouble with one being recognized. I after receiving no points for two WU's I decided to blow away the installation and start fresh. (I know about the recent problem over the past few days and this is not related). This morning my 1st WU on this system was uploaded (7:31am local time). The final due date was 8:??am local time. According to the F@H Stat page, my last WU was received Date of last work unit 2008-04-27 08:16:18. (this one) However, the points and WU did not increment.

Any help would be appreciated.

Credit not received - Windows Graphical client

Post by NoLimitssjca »

My second (and hopefully final issue) is a problem I fixed where I had configured the client to use IE settings. No WU were uploaded. I identified this issue yesterday morning and reset it to "no". It immediatly uploaded 9 WU's.

Including these 9, I had 14 WU's end and update between Friday night and Saturday moring (10:30pm and 9:00am PST). I only saw 5 post (not including the one in the previous thread (Sunday Morning)

I know this is for science, I want to know that the work is being received and applied not lost somewhere.

Welcome to the forum, NoLimitssjca.

Please take note of the many threads discussing the stats outage right now. The Project News page also talks about it (link on the toolbar above). There was a problem the last few days, and it slowly getting cleared up. You should receive credit when this is all finished up.

According to the official stats you have been credited for two p3065 WUs.

In most cases, setting IE=yes appears to prevent the uploading of WUs but in fact, they are uploaded for credit once and then, since the client did not receive the confirmation message, they are re-uploaded repeatedly, all for zero credit. Are you sure you didn't already receive credit for these WUs?

WUs which were uploaded (the first time) before the deadline should receive credit. If that appears to be untrue, please post the full WU identifier (Project, run, clone, gen) and we'll see what we can find.

Hey Bruce,

Thanks for the reply. Thanks for the info on the ie setting. I'll accept that as a plausable explanation. ;-)

I still haven't seen credit for that work unit. If you could look into it I would definitly appreciate it. I want to make sure that everything is operating properly on my end.

The WU identifier is "Project: 3064 (Run 3, Clone 336, Gen 2)". The rest of the log file is in my first post if you need any additional information.

Regards...

Hi NoLimitssjca (team 57391),
Your WU (P3064 R3 C336 G2) was added to the stats database on 2008-04-25 06:34:30 for 1753 points of credit.
Hi NoLimitssjca (team 57391),
Your WU (P3064 R3 C336 G2) was added to the stats database on 2008-04-26 09:52:42 for 0 points of credit.

Do you have more than one copy of that same client? You may have processed the same WU on both of them due to a configuration error in UserID/MachineID.

Code: Select all

 - User ID: 1C220A2E20BC61D2
 - Machine ID: 1
When you run multiple clients on a single machine, they must all have different MachineIDs. Each physical machine should have a unique UserID.

Hey Bruce!

Great deduction!!!

I did clone this sytem and did confirm an identical user ID. Now I'm stumped though. I blew away the folders and reinstalled a clean copy of FAH SMP client after cloning. It didn't create a new user ID????

How do I create a new user ID for this system?

Regards....

Stop the client. Search the registry for "pandegroup" and under one of the occurrences, you'll find a key called Userid. Delete the key. Restart the client and it'll get a new one which will be different. You'll be fine after that.

Hey Bruce,

Thanks for the great info. I found the registry entry and removed it. A new ID was generated. The original WU's wanted to complete. Now that I know what I'm looking for, I can see the duplicates. The next WU that completed did not get added to my point or WU total (I'm guessing it was a duplicate). I am assuming that once the duplicate WU's complete I will see new "non-duplicate" WU's be downloaded. I'll post again once that happens.

Thanks again for helping me troubleshoot this.

Hey Bruce,

On Wed I finally got confirmation that the new WU's were being counted. Avg PPD have risen from app 2500 last Sun to app 6700 this morning. Since Wed there has been a steady rise in gross points to (Sun 1,996 to 11,619 yesterday).

Thanks again for the help!
