Where to get support for Folding@Home on Android

Post by bruce »

This client is supported by Sony, not foldingforum.org. See the links below.

The client was developed by Sony in partnership with Stanford. It was originally designed to run on portable phones sold by Sony but with plans to broaden support to other Android devices. There have been a number of enhancements suggested, many of which may find their way into the client at some point. Sony does continue to update the client but we don't get reports here of which restrictions have been removed or when this happens.

This client does NOT support folding on battery -- such a feature is technically unfeasible. (Actually, this makes a lot of sense, since the battery would be discharged very rapidly.) It is restricted to being used only while the device is fully charged and while it is connected to the charger (i.e.- overnight, for most people).

Points, individual credits, and team credits to Stanford's credit system were not part of the original design. Support for those features has been suggested, but again that's up to the Sony development cycle.

The app can be found on Google Play
