Servers refuse results uploads past WU expiration

On a computer with Windows 7 the FAH client could not upload results for WU project 14819 (1344, 1, 61) to the work and collection servers, ports 80 and 8080, repeating the same warning and error messages. The client tried to upload the WU 14819 results for several days. Finally it reached the WU expiration and apparently dumped the results.

Something similar happened on a different Linux computer running WU project 13851 (0, 10240, 253). This has a different work server 40.114.52.201 but the same collection server as above, 52.224.109.74. Attempts to upload results have failed for several days. A few messages in the log said that 52.224.109.74 was unreachable.

Could someone check on the collection server, 52.224.109.74, and the work servers, 40.121.152.108 and 40.114.52.201? I looked up their IP addresses and they all seem to be associated with a Microsoft work server in Boydton, VA.

Hope this feedback helps to prevent additional upload failures.

Results cannot be accepted after the deadline is passed. If the WU is still being processed, when it expires, the client will discard it. If it reaches a server, the server will discard it. After a WU expires, it''s worth 0 points. By that time the WU has probably been reassigned and completed by someone else, so scientific progress probably continued.

Unlike some other distributed projects, FAH"s deadlines are critically enforced.

We apologize for the fact that we've been having trouble with some of our external servers -- including Microsoft servers -- but that's an issue for Microsoft, not FAH. FAH management is aware of the situation and they have been discussing it with them.
