FAH causing reboot, won't run

Post by cayenne187 »

I just replaced my power supply after it died and now when I start FAH the computer shuts off and restarts. I am starting to troubleshoot but anyone have similar problems? Both GPUs are working and computer is stable and normal otherwise.

It looks like your new PSU is not powerful enough to handle the load.

If you provided some details about your hardware; what CPU you have, what GPU you have, the brand and wattage of your PSU, we could make an educated guess to help you out. However, at this stage, it seems that ajm's assumption might be correct.

What happens if you run Furmark at both GPUs?

thanks for replies. i was looking for a FAH based problem like malware. same zx700 ps as was in machine and it reboots as soon as i start FAH. i need to start over this week and install one gpu and try that, then the other. i will post again when i go through that process and try furmark. aside from fah crashes and occasional bad work units, my system has been folding for many months at 350 watts and ~700000 ppd.

Assuming you're talking about Coolmax PSU (https://www.amazon.com/Coolmax-ZX-700-A ... B00GU0300G), I haven't heard of that brand on the tech sites that I follow so I personally would avoid it. I know of and stick with brands like Thermaltake, CoolMaster, Zalamn, Seasonic, Crosair (https://linustechtips.com/topic/393712- ... n-for-psu/)

It's a cheap PSU from China but it should handle those 350 watts. Did you put in all power plugs to the mainboard? Maybe try another power coord if one maybe broken.

the problem has been resolved. the power supply was defective and shut off at ~300 watts or could not deliver 150 watts through two molex to run the RX570. i ran both GPUs separately and they worked fine. The RX570 gets connected by two molex to 8 pin pcie. The GTX970 gets two 6 pin PCIe. I bought a Thermaltake smart 700 from amazon in one day and it works fine.
