Asahi Linux on Apple Silicon

FAH provides a V7 client installer for Debian / Mint / Ubuntu / RedHat / CentOS / Fedora. Installation on other distros may or may not be easy but if you can offer help to others, they would appreciate it.

Asahi Linux on Apple Silicon

Post by Alex_Atkin »

Just wanted to report that F@H runs fine on Asahi Linux.

Rather than install it I extracted the contents of the deb, extracted the data.tar.xz then put the contents of /usr/bin just in a fah folder in my home directory.
Then running FAHClient manually from the terminal created all the data files and config in that same folder.

As expected it seems to have a much higher PPD than running under Rosetta 2 on MacOS and doesn't have the glitch where FAHClient stops responding correctly to FAHControl that makes it a pain to run on MacOS.

Mac Mini M1 4 threads: ~114K PPD
Macbook M1 Pro 8 threads: ~273K PPD

I've also been following Lina and it sounds like OpenCL support might not be too far away as the GPU driver is coming along nicely. Will anyone be looking into supporting the GPU once its available?
