Good evening.

I am looking for some suggestions on updates to my once mining rigs now folding rigs. Currently I am looking to rebuild a rig that will consist of x5 3070's and x2 3090's another rig with x2 3060's and x2 1080 Ti's then my main computer will have x1 4090. Currently I am running the 3070's on a Z390 ud and the 4090 same mobo both with i5 9400 cpu's the other is on an old Dell mobo just humming along I am sure bottlenecked to the gills. As it is according to "LAR System" web page I am folding at well below 75% of what is expected. I have some extra $$ and don't mind spending it on the rigs if it will bring up my PPD. So long story short I am looking for suggestions.

Regards,
Ken

Welcome to Folding@Home!

As a rule of thumb, F@H will 'need' a thread for the OS and a thread per GPU.
Ideally for 7 GPUs, a 8 core/16 thread CPU will keep busy.

To the extent I understand PCIE, you will need a CPU and motherboard with 56 lanes for 7 GPUs

I ran an ASUS B 250 Mining Expert with 8 GPUs and a four-core Intel i5-2500 CPU (not hyperthreaded by BIOS setting). I did not use the CPU for folding (remove the CPU slot in configuration). Mining rigs can handle more GPUs than the CPU core count.
