I have tried using every setting. My other clients with same settings are working but not this one. It is able to get new units but not able to upload results. The client version is Folding@Home Client Version 5.04beta

At least in the log you posted, you're using the evil IE=YES. Step #1 is to set Use IE setting to NO. It might not fix this particular problem, but it will avoid additional problems in the future.

Well it is not possible to connect without this option. I tried to connect without this option as well but its not working.
And my other clients are working very fine with the same settings.

Is there any way to take completed work units to some other system and upload results from there.

The normal settings are the default settings in the configuration- IE=NO, proxy=NO. Using IE will usually let you download new work, but cause problems with uploads.

This can get complicated, but there is a way to upload from a different machine.

I understand that there could be cases that might cause problems with proxy=YES setting, but then what confuses me really is that why is it so that for only a machine, or maybe it could be for some servers only(cant surely say on this as from my other machine the units are getting uploaded properly but to which server they are going, i donot find that address in the logs.

I will try to upload from other machine.

Some of it will depend on the Windows updates you've installed. Use IE=YES was written for the barebones IE6, but MS changed a few things with some of the IE6 updates, and made big changes in IE7. They are removing that option from future clients.

So that means i might not be able to use some configurations of proxy or there will be difficulty when using proxy. Why not then lets not use IE libraries/dll's but use libraries of firefox (truly i dont know as of now whether firefox also uses the same libraries for letting user access net via proxy, and if MS has changed something in those libraries then nothing will help)

Also please explain what is suffix & lifeline meant for
Calling 'FahCore_81.exe -dir work/ -suffix 03 -priority 96 -cpu 90 -checkpoint 6 -service -verbose -lifeline 3236 -version 504'

I tried with IE=No and Proxy=Yes

This is the result

Code: Select all

[03:23:33] - Averaged speed for that direction ~35 kB/s
[03:23:33] - Unknown packet returned from server, expected ACK for results
[03:23:33] - Error: Could not transmit unit 05 (completed January 15) to work se
rver.
[03:23:33] - 35 failed uploads of this unit.

It says Unknown packet returned, expected ACK for result. Anyway to add more verbosity which already set to 9. Any way to figure out what was returned except raw packet capture.

Did you try IE=No and Proxy=No? That's the one that works for most people who have installed certain Windows security updates. Unless you actually connect through a proxy (such as if you connect through a corporate LAN) it should always be NO.

Not possible to use proxy=No. Then i cant connect to the internet.
What i feel that the data is getting uploaded but the server is maybe not able to confirm it,.... something...

If you have other computers working with IE=NO and Proxy=Yes, then that is correct, naturally.

And if the fah client on other computers are able to communicate with Stanford, then what is different with this one problematic computer? Settings, either fah or the operating system, AV software, firewall? Network connection different? Bad cable, weak WIFI? Eliminate the obvious, and whatever is left over is the answer.

The results have been uploaded now. I had to take the WU to a pc with direct net connection. Really not able to figure out what the problem was.
These were the WUs : 4110 , 4111, 4101, 3608.
