Re: Switched power and my laptop stopped folding

Welcome to the forum! When you move the power slider bar down to Light, that will mean that less components in your PC are actively engaged in molecular simulations. So when you move down, your GPU and most of your CPU will stop work in order to only use a little bit on that Light setting. So it's b...

Re: Help setting up remote access?

Hi and welcome to the forum. Yes, FAHControl can connect to another instance of the F@h software on another machine. For this, go to the desktop that you have in the corner, go to FAHControl, click Configure, click the Remote Access tab, and add your LAN's subnet into the "Allow" field of ...

Re: FAHClient works, but error on website

Hi Ben, and welcome to the forum. I suggest that you open the Web Control website on a different web browser, such as Mozilla Firefox, which might fix the issue. Another solution is to open the FAHControl package, as FAHControl is a more advanced front-end for the software. ----------------------- H...

Re: Client doesn't do a thing

can you tell me how Windows Firewall should be configured? Inbound rule: Custom Specific path to fahclient.exe Protocol: TCP Local port: ? External port: ? specific ip-addresses? Outbound rule? I think you only need an outbound rule. You want to allow traffic from fahclient.exe out on TCP ports 80 ...

Re: Points Stopped Accumulating

The stats system is currently down for maintenance. When it is back up, I anticipate that the points should appear.

Re: Name not found in Donor list

Hi Aingidh and welcome to the forum.

Your workunits have been counted, but the stats system has been under a lot of load from the new users. It's offline for maintenance at the moment and I expect that all the points will show up once it's back up.

Re: Minimum Disk Space required - Dual Boot Linux/Win Vista

You probably need about 300 MB of disk space for F@h, 500 MB to be really safe. Some workunits can rarely get up to 100 MB, especially some of the Wuhan Coronavirus / COVID-19 projects, but most workunits are 5-10 MB depending on the size of the molecule that they are studying.

Re: client software optimizations

HI bratpiorka and welcome to the forum. As some background knowledge, there are multiple layers to the F@h software. Most users see the Web Control website or the FAHControl front-end, which both talk to FAHClient under the hood. FAHClient organizes the work, tracks the user's configuration, downloa...

Re: Connection issues in computer lab - what do I ask IT?

"Exception: Failed to read stream" and "An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine." sounds like a firewall or antimalware is interfering with the connection. Is there anything on your PC or in your router that could be interfering with the network...

Re: WU's not crediting since yesterday?

Whoa, thanks for the help with all those GPUs! The stats system is just under very high load from the massive numbers of new users that have join F@h, so sometimes it takes a while for all the points to show up. If you got credit for them, they'll show up there in a day or two. You can also put your...

Re: Dumped WU When Switching GPU

Hi and welcome to the forum. This is expected and fairly normal. The software tries to refer to each GPU with a specific OpenCL or CUDA identifier and when no hardware matches that ID, the processing will abort and the software will dump the workunit. For example, it knew that an index of 0 referred...

Re: No rank; missing points

The points are recorded, but it may take some time for them to show up on your account. The stats are updated periodically and the server is under very high load from all the new users, so I would check back in a day or two and you should see them there. You can also put in your username here: https...

Re: Client not started on Windows 10

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I have a hunch on what's going on here. Do you have two users on that professional computer? For example, a regular and admin account. If so, try to log into the admin account and see if everything works on that account.

Re: Configuring GPU

I completely get your skepticism of closed-source software that you can't inspect yourself. I've been that way myself for a while. But I've also followed F@h for about 8 or 9 years now, and seen how the development happens. It's usually collaborative, with a lot of research teams, PhD students, empl...
